University of Trieste: Wärtsilä meets the talents of tomorrow
Meeting between the graduands of the university and the former students employed in the Finnish company located in Trieste
The collaboration between the University of Trieste and Wärtsilä, the leading global supplier of energy solutions, whose Italian headquarter is in Trieste, continues.
Nine former students of the University of Trieste, now employed in Wärtsilä, met last week the graduands and the recently graduated from the University to tell them how their career grew in the company starting from their university studies.
Wärtsilä employees explained to the young students the importance of a sound knowledge, but at the same time they offered advice to bridge the gap between the academic world and the business world.
This activity was carried out within the employer branding initiatives organized by Wärtsilä, which includes the agreement signed with the University in March 2012, aimed at further strengthening the link with the territory for the quest of new talents to be hired by the company.
"The University of Trieste is really pleased for the excellent outcomes of the on-going collaboration with Wärtsilä Italia – underlined the Rector of the University of Trieste Maurizio Fermeglia - and for the actual job opportunities offered to its graduates in this important international company. I am sure that also in the future, as widely proven during our recent conference, our students will have gratifying chances of professional growth, thanks to the fruitful scientific and company relations set up by the University of Trieste with this outstanding Finnish industrial group”.
"The aim of the meeting is twofold – said Raffaele Ferrio, HR Director of Wärtsilä – on one hand we wanted to give the students the opportunity to know one of the most important company on the territory with its specific job careers, on the other we wanted to create a virtuous circle enabling the company to draw from the university environment the talents of the future".
