Wärtsilä Italia S.p.A. announces that on 1st June 2016 Mr. Guido Barbazza will take over the role of President & Managing Director of Wärtsilä Italia. Mr. Barbazza will succeed Mr. Sergio Razeto, who after his 40-year long and successful career will, according to the plan, retire by the end of May.
Mr. Guido Barbazza is currently Vice President of Services Emerging Businesses Product Line and member of Wärtsilä Services Division Management Team since 2015. His career started in 1979 as Chief Engineer Officer on merchant, passenger and military ships. In 1982 he became Chief Foreman and Product Manager of the ship yard group Cantieri Navali Riuniti and since 1991 he worked in Grandi Motori Trieste - which then became Wärtsilä - as Field Services Manager and later Sales Manager. During his long career in Wärtsilä, he covered many key management positions in the Services of Wärtsilä Italia, up to the role of Vice President, and in Wärtsilä Field Services where he was Director of Global Functions FS directly leading Delivery Management FS and Wärtsilä Land & Sea Academy.
During that period Mr. Barbazza developed and implemented the "Zero Injury" Project, paving Wärtsilä's way towards workplace safety.
