Ms Alid Dettke (38), double-degree BA (Hons) European Business, has been appointed Executive Vice President Human Resources and member of the Board of Management, effective as of today. Ms Dettke joined Wärtsilä in November 2017 and has most recently held the position of Vice President for Open Innovation. Prior to Wärtsilä, Ms Dettke worked at Accenture Interactive for more than a decade in various positions with a focus on digital strategy, transformation and value creation.

“In Wärtsilä, we have during a very short time span redesigned our operations to provide increased customer value in the changing markets. Long-term success requires resilience and a new mindset from our workforce across the globe. With this appointment, I want to underline Wärtsilä’s commitment to talent development and a performance culture with clear accountability and target-setting. Offering a truly compelling employee experience to our people is central for safeguarding future success,” says Jaakko Eskola, President & CEO of Wärtsilä Corporation.

Wärtsilä’s previous head of Human Resources, Ms Päivi Castrén (61) will pursue opportunities outside the company.

“The past years in Wärtsilä have been marked by continuous change, and, from a people perspective, these changes have been always handled very smoothly and effectively. On behalf of the whole organisation, I wish to thank Päivi for strengthening the global HR practices, which are instrumental for being a preferred employer,” Eskola continues.
