The technology group Wärtsilä has won the 2019 IN2 SABRE Award for the Best in Brand film/video for its ‘An Oceanic Awakening’ depiction of the need for action in a time of unprecedented global change. The video was produced in collaboration with the Helsinki based agency, Miltton Group and UK based production company Somesuch. The award was presented at a ceremony held in London on May 22. The Wärtsilä campaign was also short-listed in the B-2-B Marketing category.

Wärtsilä’s ‘An Oceanic Awakening’ is a global initiative focused on the radical transformation of the world’s marine and energy industries into a single supremely efficient, ecologically sound, and digitally connected ecosystem. Highlighting and proactively addressing issues related to rapid urban growth and climate change form the basis of Wärtsilä’s drive to activate a fully integrated smart ecosystem. The initiative requires collaboration across multiple segments and industry verticals, as well as active involvement in leveraging emerging technologies to create new business opportunities and a more sustainable future.

“Sustainability has been a major focus area of Wärtsilä’s development work for years, but ‘An Ocean Awakening’ demands change on a much broader scale. The key here is far more extensive co-operation across the ecosystem. Rapid acceleration in achieving greater efficiency, sustainability, and connectivity is needed, not only to benefit individual sectors, but to help society at large. This is our wake-up call to everyone to realise the genuinely transformative potential of the marine and energy sectors, and the role they can play in improving the quality of our lives,” says Roger Holm, President, Wärtsilä Marine.

The prestigious IN2 SABRE Awards recognise excellence in various categories of innovation and insight (IN2), the two qualities being celebrated with these awards.
