Wärtsilä's history in France started in 1989, when Wärtsilä acquired shares from SACM Diesel. The companies Duvant Crepelle, New Sulzer Diesel, Poyaud, Lips Défense, Deutz Marine, Whessoe France and lately Navelec integrated Wärtsilä France which to this day counts approximately 400 employees.
