Wärtsilä field power plants

Our power plants range from 1 to 500 MW. Proven reliability, fuel flexibility and low emissions make the plants suitable for demanding applications in the oil and gas industry, such as processing facilities, pump stations, compressor stations, marine terminals etc.

Our power plants can be run on associated gas, crude oil, residual, diesel oil or a combination of liquid and gaseous fuels. This enables the operator to choose the fuel with the lowest price and best availability. The system is also tolerant against fuel quality variations and as such suitable for oil field power generation.


Modular design

The modular design of our field power plants enables trouble-free installation and fast-track delivery anywhere in the world. Prefabricated, functionally pretested modules guarantee consistent quality and performance. Site installation is simply a matter of assembling and connecting the modules.

Utilization of flare gases

Thanks to Wärtsilä’s gas-diesel technology and its unique pilot fuel injection method for initiating combustion, associated gas can be used for power generation or gas reinjection at the oil field. If the supply of gas varies in quantity and quality, the answer is fuel sharing – the Wärtsilä innovation that revolutionizes the concept of fuel flexibility.

The basic concept provides electrical power generation for the field facility processes, from upstream to downstream oil shipping pumps. This power generation can even be provided with a combined heat and power (CHP) system, if needed.

Smaller initial investment

As your needs change you can change the plant size by adding additional generating sets. This means you can get started with a smaller initial investment.
