Wärtsilä Services Unit Caribbean & Central America (SUCCA) held their 2nd Executives Day, this time again in Miami Florida on October 22nd at the JW Marriot hotel. Top executives from utilities from Dominican Republic, Bahamas, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Tortola, Curacao and El Salvador participated in a full day of panel and discussions towards issues and possible solutions focused on how performance optimization improves operational costs.
The seminar theme was Lifecycle Efficiency, in which experts from several Wärtsilä business lines stirred the discussion by presenting on Risk Mitigation, Conversions to Natural Gas, Fuel alternatives such as Ethane, Methane, and LPG, Asset Management & Partnerships, and Performance Optimization & Fuel efficiency. During the conversations there was opportunity to review past and ongoing case studies of customers that are already applying recommended methodologies to lower operational costs. Most of the topics were tailored by requests from customers before the event. Customers had the opportunity to express their issues and discuss different solution scenarios with the Wärtsilä team. The floor was open to hear from each executive what they think Wärtsilä can do better for them: “Our focus is to work together with you [customer] and we want to know from you where we can improve.” asked André Bosman, SUCCA Director. The candid responses were well appreciated, and will be addressed in future meetings.
Preliminary plans and ideas for a 2015 executives meeting were discussed, and will continue to be developed with the rest of the customers that were not able to join. For 2015 it is planned to hold the event in Dominican Republic during the month of August.
