The Indian way
In his work as a General Manager of Field Services and Technical Services in Wärtsilä India, Narendra Newaskar deals a lot with people. “Most importantly, I’m accountable for the safety and well-being of more than 100 Field Services and Technical Services experts. In addition, I’m accountable for excellent customer service; being there for them at the right time, at the right place, delivering with high quality!”
Being open to new things, Narendra has been part of various improvement initiatives in Wärtsilä, such as creating a more flexible capacity management system and improving the utilisation rate of Wärtsilä Field Services in Middle East and Asia. He has also been setting up virtual office set-up in various locations in India. “The work environment in Wärtsilä provides freedom to us employees to do some business experiments – of course within the boundaries of organisational benefit,” Narendra tells.
When asked about Wärtsilä’s most significant developments, Narendra re-mentions safety. “Most importantly safety of employees has strengthened much more as compared to earlier times. In addition, Wärtsilä has focused on strengthening our global processes which ensures same high-quality experience for any customer dealing with Wärtsilä, no matter where they are,” Narendra describes.
"Also, the shift from providing products to delivering solutions has been significant. Enhancing the portfolio to cover complete value chain for customer keeps Wärtsilä ahead of times,” Narendra continues. “I see Wärtsilä working big way in digital space in the next decade or so. This, I am sure, brings lot of opportunities for India to contribute in this journey of Wärtsilä through highly skilled resources.”
