A world citizen committed to protecting marine ecosystems for future generations

Andrei Voinigescu, General Manager of Business Intelligence, is a true cosmopolitan with a broad international resume. A naturalised Canadian citizen born in Romania, Andrei has worked as a software developer and intellectual property lawyer for global technology companies in Canada, the US, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and China before joining the Wärtsilä Marine Business in Helsinki. Now, he is working in Europe for the first time and enjoying the new continent and getting to know Finland and Finnish culture.

Andrei is a newcomer to the maritime industry, but his experience with digital platforms and ecosystems is helping him chart the path of the industry in the midst of its transformation. He strongly believes that understanding the emerging business models and new sources of competition in an interconnected smart marine ecosystem will be critical to Wärtsilä’s future success.

As a professional underwater photographer and film-maker, Andrei has witnessed first-hand the impact of human activity on fragile marine ecosystems and wildlife around the world. Wärtsilä’s call for an ‘Oceanic Awakening’ that ensures a more sustainable future for the marine industry and for our oceans resonates deeply with him. He is keen to use his skills and knowledge and collaborate with like-minded colleagues at Wärtsilä in the important work of creating a better future for our planet.
