Wärtsilä is included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (both World and Europe), FTSE4Good Index, Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe, ECPI Indices, MSCI Global Sustainability Index Series, OMX GES Sustainability Nordic Index and OMX GES Sustainability Finland Index. Wärtsilä is also included in the Ethibel EXCELLENCE Investment Register, as well as RobecoSAM Sustainability Yearbook. Wärtsilä has also been rated a Prime company by oekom research.
Launched in 1999, the S&P Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) are a family of indices evaluating the sustainability performance of the largest companies listed on the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index. They are the longest-running global sustainability benchmarks worldwide, and have become a key reference point in sustainability investing for investors and companies alike.
FTSE4Good Index Series is a series of benchmark and tradable indices for socially responsible investors. The inclusion criteria are designed to help investors minimise social, environmental and ethical risks. The criteria focus on corporate responsibility, human rights, environmental actions, social and stakeholder engagement and countering bribery.
ECPI is a leading Rating and Index company dedicated to ESG Research (Environmental, Social and Governance) since 1997. ECPI Indices are used for benchmarking, thematic investment, risk management purposes and to create index-tracking investment strategies or ETF’s.
MSCI Global Sustainability Indexes include companies with high ESG ratings relative to their sector peers, the ratings covering 5,700 large and mid-cap companies worldwide. MSCI ESG Research products and services are used by institutional investors and asset managers to integrate company environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into their investment processes.
The OMX GES Sustainability Nordic Index and the OMX GES Sustainability Finland Index are based on risk ratings, which are analyses of risks in the companies' methods of dealing with the environment, human rights and corporate governance. The analysis is based on international norms on Environmental, Social and Governance issues in accordance with the UN Principles for Responsible Investments. They evaluate both the companies' present status and readiness for the future. The analysis model is easy to implement and gives an immediate overview of a company's sustainability status, which can reduce investment risk. The Nordic sustainability index comprises the 50 best rated companies on the Nordic stock exchanges. The Finnish index comprises the 40 best rated companies on the Helsinki stock exchange.
The selection by Forum ETHIBEL into the Ethibel EXCELLENCE Investment register indicates that the company performs better than average in its sector in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The members for the Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe are chosen from among those companies Ethibel Investment Registers. The ESI indices universe is composed of companies included in the Russell Global Index that display the best performance in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility. The Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe includes 200 top performing European companies in this field. The analysis is based on research done by Vigeo.
Every year since 2004, RobecoSAM’s The Sustainability Yearbook has listed the world’s most sustainable companies in each industry as determined by their score in RobecoSAM’s annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA).
Oekom research awards Prime status to those companies which according to the oekom Corporate rating are among the leaders in their industry and which meet industry-specific minimum requirements.
