The 'Aker Barents' started drilling in 2009 for oil and gas on the Norwegian continental shelf. The new H6e rig is designed to operate in tough environments and at water depths of 3000 metres. Wärtsilä supplied to the drilling rig thrusters motors, transformers, VSDs and switchboards.

Commissioned in 2003, the ‘Almirante Don Juan De Borbon’ is the second of five Alvaro de Bazan Class multipurpose frigates (also known as F100 frigates) operated by the Spanish Navy. For each vessel, Wärtsilä supplies two controllable pitch propellers and the shafting systems.

Delivered in 2010, the ‘Ang Kang’ is a 34m Twin Screw Tug with a 45 tonnes bollard pull, which has been designed by Wärtsilä Ship Design for towing and support operations.

The heavy Icebreaker, Deep-Sea Drilling, and Multi-Purpose Research Vessel, the 'Aurora Borealis' was designed by Wärtsilä Ship Design. When it enters service in 2016, it will be the most advanced Polar Research Vessel in the world, and used to support climate/environmental research.

Delivered in 2003, the 6384 dwt tanker ‘Bitflower’ features a machinery installation incorporating a Wärtsilä 6L38B main engine with an output of 4350 kW at 600 rpm. In addition to the Wärtsilä 6L38B engine, the ‘Bitflower’ also features a Wärtsilä SCV85 reduction gearbox, a Wärtsilä bow thruster, and a controllable pitch propeller.

The 25,000 dwt product tanker ‘Bit Viking’ was the first vessel ever to undergo a conversion by Wärtsilä from heavy fuel oil to liquefied natural gas (LNG) operation.

The ‘Brabo’ entered service in 2007. The vessel is designed to work in shallow waters, and for applications such as, port maintenance, beach replenishment, and land reclamation projects. The major part of the pumping power is delivered by the two Wärtsilä engines – a Wärtsilä 12V32 and a Wärtsilä 8L32.

The purse seiner / trawler designed by Wärtsilä Ship Design has been conceived with an emphasis on low fuel consumption, a minimal environmental footprint, and safety and comfort for the crew.
