Intelligent Combustion Control for RT-flex and W-X engines

The Intelligent Combustion Control system helps to reduce fuel oil consumption and maintenance costs as well as ensuring operational reliability. It enables the ship’s engines to operate reliably and in accordance with their original shop test performance. The system operates automatically onboard, in real time, and regardless of either the fuel in use or the ambient conditions.

Compared to an engine where the Fuel Quality Setting is incorrectly adjusted, the measured reduction in fuel oil consumption with an activated ICC is up to 2.5 g/kWh over the entire engine load range. The reduction in specific fuel oil consumption also results in a decrease of CO2 emissions.

    The ICC system automatically balances the compression and firing pressures in all cylinders, resulting in the equal exploitation of each unit and reduced torsional vibration for the complete engine. The system also protects the engine against potential manual operating errors.
