The Wärtsilä AQUARIUS® EC Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) was installed onboard the Anvil Point, a Ro-Ro vessel, as part of the Type Approval process.
The MV Anvil Point is designed for the transportation of dry cargoes, containers and vehicles. As a non ballast water treatment ready vessel, installation included ballast pipeline penetration. For retrofit applications and upgrades, where space availability can be a determining factor, the modular configuration of Wärtsilä’s AQUARIUS® range was a particular advantage and the Wärtsilä’s experience in piping design guaranteed minimal impact on the vessels existing operating regime.
With the trial period successfully completed, and full compliance with the IMO D2 performance standard had been demonstrated, the Wärtsilä AQUARIUS® was awarded Type Approval in accordance with the requirements of the 2004 IMO Convention for the control and management of ships’ ballast water and sediments.
