Wärtsilä's presence in Poland has been dated from January 1994, i.e. when the Wärtsilä Diesel Oy Rep. Office in Gdańsk was established.
After some two years of activity as Rep. Office it was converted into Wärtsilä Diesel Polska – a fully operational Wärtsilä Marine sales network company.
The Wärtsilä – Sulzer merge in the autumn of 1996 caused both New Sulzer Diesel Polska and Wärtsilä Diesel Polska to join under Wärtsilä NSD Polska, which today is Wärtsilä Polska Sp. z o.o. In Poland Wärtsilä operates from offices in Warszawa (headoffice) and Gdansk, covering two main business activities in the area, i.e. Marine Industry, Power Industry and Services. During Wärtsilä's time in Poland the staff has grown from one in the start to about thirty persons today.
