Wärtsilä started its activities in Pakistan in the early eighties and as its business grew an office was established at Lahore in 1994 and another one at Karachi in 1995.
Wärtsilä main business activities in Pakistan are power plant sales, ship power sales and related services. The total engine capacity in Pakistan at the moment is 948 MW out of which 379 MW is installed at Independent Power Plants, 481 MW at captive power plants and 88 MW in ship power.

Wärtsilä is the only company in Pakistan with Authorized Independent Service Facility (ASIF) for Woodward Governors of Japan.
