INTRODUCTION OF THE WÄRTSILÄ LAND & SEA ACADEMY

Waalwijk, The Netherlands, 9 April 2009 - With the Land & Sea Academy, Wärtsilä Netherlands B.V. is opening a large-scale training center in Waalwijk. At this location, Wärtsilä offers its customers, its own employees and educational institutions, a broad package of technical training programs. The Wärtsilä Land & Sea Academy has a floor surface of 2000 square meter, and contains nine training rooms, four conference rooms and a large workshop . "In 2009, we expect to welcome some 800 to 1000 students in Waalwijk. We are very pleased to have the Wärtsilä Land & Sea Academy in The Netherlands", says Job van der Burgt, Vice President Services Wärtsilä Netherlands B.V.. The Dutch location of the Land & Sea Academy is one of Wärtsilä's ten training centers worldwide.

State of the art training facility
The Land & Sea training program consists of product-specific training programs in the area of diesel engines and propulsion systems, as well as customized training. The training center has the latest training tools, such as simulators for operating systems and smart boards to explain the technology. To support the theoretical programs, the workshop has a large number of engines and propellers.
The training team consists of eleven people, with years of experience in technical fieldwork. The entire team is IMO 6.09 certified (training for teachers in the maritime field).

The various training locations cooperate closely to develop the training programs and they use each other's teachers when specific knowledge is required.
