Wärtsilä hosted the Nasdaq opening bell ceremony

Wärtsilä hosted the NASDAQ Opening Bell Ceremony in New York on Thursday 26 April 2012. In honor of the occasion, Björn Rosengren, President and CEO, together with Frank Donnelly, President, Wärtsilä North America rang the Opening Bell.

In his speech Mr Rosengren pointed out Wärtsilä's message as a global leader in complete lifecycle power solutions for the marine and energy markets as well as focus on environmental solutions and gas technology. He highlighted Wärtsilä's Smart Power Generation helping to react to the changes in power generation market: "Wärtsilä is proud to be enabling these changes with our quick start, cost-effective and reliable gas based power plants with multi-fuel capabilities". In the marine markets Wärtsilä focuses on fuel efficiency and compliance with the upcoming environmental regulations.

In a ceremony at Kings Point, New York, earlier the same week, Wärtsilä donated a propulsion system to the Midshipmen of the United States Merchant Marine Academy. "We are pleased that core technologies of our business are providing the training platform for future generations of engineers," said Frank Donnelly.
