Metra’s Board of Directors today approved the resignation of President and CEO Georg Ehrnrooth and appointed Mr Ole Johansson, MSc (Econ.) (49) President and CEO of Metra. Mr Ehrnrooth will retire from the company from the beginning of next year.

Georg Ehrnrooth announced in the spring that he would exercise his right to retire during the current year. He will continue to be a member of Metra’s Board of Directors and to chair the boards of Sanitec and Assa Abloy.

“Now that Metra has evolved into a company focusing on one core business, Wärtsilä NSD, and with Metra now being renamed Wärtsilä, the time is right for a new CEO,” Georg Ehrnrooth stated.

Ole Johansson has been President of Wärtsilä NSD since 1 June 1998, before which he was Executive Vice President of Metra since 1996. He joined Metra as Senior Vice President with responsibility for Financial Control, Treasury and Internal Auditing in 1995, having served as Chief Financial Officer of the Wärtsilä Diesel Group. Mr Johansson joined the Wärtsilä Group in 1975 and since then held various senior management positions in financial control and treasury at both corporate and subsidiary levels.
