Wärtsilä Corporation, Stock exchange release 2 January 2013 at 11:30 UTC+2

Wärtsilä has signed a contract with AES Corporation to supply a major power plant to Jordan. The value of the turnkey EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) project is EUR 184 million. The order is expected to be finalized shortly and included in Wärtsilä’s first quarter 2013 order book.

The US based AES Corporation is an independent power producer with operations globally. The Al-Manakher power plant is to be installed in Amman, Jordan and is scheduled to be fully operational by July 2014. Running on a total of 16 Wärtsilä 50DF dual-fuel engines, it will be capable of using either heavy fuel oil or natural gas as fuel. The electricity produced by the power plant will be fed to the country’s national grid.

This power plant order is the latest that Wärtsilä has received from Jordan within a short period of time. The power plant project ordered in October 2012 is under construction and is expected to be operational in February 2014.
