Wärtsilä has been included in the FTSE4Good Index, the leading global index for socially responsible investors. This benchmark index by the London-based FTSE Group measures the performance of companies that meet globally recognized standards for corporate responsibility.

“It is an honour for Wärtsilä to be included in this respected responsible-investment index. Sustainability has long been at the top of our business agenda, not only in terms of product development, but also in our way of working. This listing recognizes that we are creating value by environmentally innovative solutions and highly ethical business practices," says Ole Johansson, President & CEO of Wärtsilä Corporation.

Membership of the FTSE4Good Index is based on Wärtsilä having clearly demonstrated that it has policies and management systems in place that help address global environmental and social concerns.

Launched in 2001, the FTSE4Good Index Series is a series of benchmark and tradable indices for socially responsible investors. The inclusion criteria are designed to help investors minimise social, environmental and ethical risks. The criteria focus on corporate responsibility, human rights, environmental actions, social and stakeholder engagement and countering bribery.

Wärtsilä’s inclusion in this prestigious index was confirmed by the FTSE4Good Policy Committee at its March 2008 review.
