Low-speed engines

Low-speed engines

Wärtsilä RTA engines are optimum prime movers for the most ocean-going cargo ships in the power range of 5,100 to 84,420kW. The low-speed engine plant offers simple and reliable propulsion with relatively few cylinders directly driving a single propeller. Easy operation and maintenance are strong features.

Wärtsilä RT-flex engines have the latest common-rail technology with integrated electronic control of all engine systems. As well as the proven benefits of the RTA engines, the RT-flex engines have the additional benefits of :

  • Smokeless operation at all running speeds
  • Reduced part-load fuel consumption
  • Lower minimum running speeds
  • Higher reliability and redundancy
