Wärtsilä increases assembly and testing capacity and invests EUR 18 million in Trieste Delivery Centre
to meet the strong level of market demand and to support the company’s growth target.

The 3000+ Project has not only considerably increased production capacity, efficiency and flexibility, but has also
improved the quality of the product and of the lifestyle within the factory. When walking through the office and
workshop corridors, one can admire the brand new layout and visual image, the result of 22 months’ hard work.
All the new plants and systems were constructed without interrupting the production cycle in order to meet
the engine delivery times and to honour all the commitments made with the Customer.
All Company resources have contributed to the success of the 3000+ Project.
Originally devised as a project aimed at increasing the production capacity of the Company, the 3000+ Project has
successfully developed to involve important aspects such as Safety and Image, and it is the result of a real change
in attitude, projected into the future.
The areas that benefit from these investments are:
- machining and pre-assembly areas, where modern pre-assembly lines, with specific mounting equipment and lifting tools
- engine main assembly areas, where a modern line based concept and further benches will be added
- test and finishing areas, enlarged by adding new test cells and a painting cabinet
- logistic areas, designed for new logistic concept
