Wärtsilä 46
The most popular engine for power generation onboard large cruise vessels
Extensive testing in our modern diesel laboratory, backed by several thousand running hours are the foundations of the Wärtsilä 46 engine’s outstanding performance and reliability.
Full scale laboratory testing covers various types of endurance tests, combustion measurements, and systems optimization. All of these procedures are used to confirm theoretical calculations, simulations, and performance mapping of such factors as heat balance, fuel and lube oil consumption, exhaust emissions, noise, and vibration levels.
Wärtsilä works in close co-operation with its customers in conducting field tests and following-up on selected test components. Data on wear rates, maintenance intervals and consumption rates are collected regularly. This not only creates long-term customer relationships, but is essential in developing an even better product.
The Wärtsilä 46 engine is fully compliant with the IMO Tier II exhaust emissions regulations set out in Annex VI of the MARPOL 73/78 convention.
