The theme for the Vaasa Housing Fair 11.7-10.8.2008 is ecology. The heating of an entire neighbourhood is provided for the first time in an environmentally friendly way through a low-energy network.
The electricity and the heat for the residential area is produced by ground source heating pumps and micro turbines as well as by Wärtsilä's fuel cells. Wärtsilä's New Energy power plant uses as fuel methane gas that is produced in the nearby dumping ground. Because of the high efficiency the emissions levels remain very low. This is an energyform that will revolutionize the market in the future with its ecological and nature friendly features.
Minister of Trade and Industry Mauri Pekkarinen will inaugurate the New Energy building on 15 July.
