Wärtsilä BWT 500i

Wärtsilä’s BWT 500i system is designed to effectively meet the latest and most stringent environmental regulations.

The Wärtsilä BWT 500i is a complete ballast water treatment system designed for a flow rate of 500 m³/h. The system is designed to allow several units to be installed in parallel for higher flow rates.

Wärtsilä BWT 500i is based on filtration and UV disinfection treatment. The treatment system is unique because it incorporates both a filter system and a UV reactor in a single integrated unit. The integrated concept offers a number of advantages including a smaller footprint, reduced pressure drop and lower power draw. The system comprises of the treatment unit itself, the control panel, the driver panel and the switch gear panel as well as the related piping and cabling.

The Wärtsilä BWT 500i has been purpose built for marine applications and to fulfil the requirements of the IMO’s International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments (BWM 2004). The convention defines standards for ballast water exchange as well as ballast water performance. Whereas the performance standard states limits for aquatic invasive species in discharged ballast water.
