Wärtsilä signed an Operations & Maintenance agreement for a gas engine power plant in Mozambique, scheduled for completion by May 2014. The plant will be powered by 18 Wärtsilä 34SG engines running on natural gas. It will be the largest power plant running exclusively on gas engines to be installed in Mozambique, and the second largest in Africa. »
Wärtsilä has received the Final Approval status from the International Maritime Organization’s Marine Environment Protection Committee for its Wärtsilä AQUARIUS® EC Ballast Water Management System. It provides a safe, flexible and economical process for the treatment of ballast water. »
Wärtsilä will supply inert gas systems for a Floating Storage Unit to be located on Norway’s Heidrun offshore oil and gas field, and for two shuttle tankers that will support the FSU. The design and engineering of the systems is specifically intended for offshore applications with the nitrogen generators allowing for larger capacities. »
Wärtsilä has signed a 10-year Operations & Maintenance agreement for Ndola Energy power plant in Zambia. The contract covers full operations, maintenance and servicing of the plant, which is scheduled to start commercial operations in July. It is the first HFO power plant in Zambia exclusively operated by Wärtsilä. »
