History of Wärtsilä in the Dominican Republic

In 2001, Wärtsilä opened its local service network station in the Dominican Republic in order to increase Wärtsilä service level to its customers in the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba. It was named Wärtsilä Dominicana C. por A. (WDO).

In 2003, due to the rapid increase in workload, Wärtsilä decided to extend the workshop and add more reconditioning facilities. Today, Wärtsilä Dominicana operates the most capable workshop in the Caribbean, performing any kind of work related to Diesel Engines.

In the Dominican Republic, we service not only the large population of Wärtsilä Engines, which represent about half of the total population of Diesel Power Plants in the island, but also we have solutions to any type of medium or low-speed engines.

Our office is specialized in supplying service to vessels from all over the world operating in our area. Our Field Service engineers are always available for trouble shooting and emergency repairs on any kind of engine and propulsion system. The capabilities of our local workshop further assure the perfect technical back-up for governors, turbochargers or any other kind of service.

Currently WDO is a company of 75 employees, continuously trained and dedicated to provide the best service available in our region.
