Wärtsilä had its first presence in China in 1986, based in Hong Kong. Nowadays, the members of the Wärtsilä family in China consist of Wärtsilä China Ltd. located in Hong Kong, Wärtsilä Engine (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. in Shanghai, two representative offices in Dalian and Beijing and one service station in Panyu. Furthermore, joint venture companies WCZP, WQDC as well as QMD and wholly owned company of WPWCN have recently joined the Wärtsilä family in China.
China is seen as the world’s fastest-growing shipbuilding market. By 2007, the number of staff at Wärtsilä in China has grown to over 1000 employees. We are committed to marine and energy markets with products and solutions as well as services for the shipping and power generation markets.
