The Diesel Technology Center in Oberwinterthur, as part of the Wärtsilä Land & Sea Academy (WLSA), offers a variety of courses primarily for customers (shipping companies, licensees, ship management companies) but also for Wärtsilä staff.
The courses for customers are aimed at engine and technical personnel. The programme covers basic, advanced and fully tailor-made courses based on the customer requirements in addition to standard Wärtsilä product courses, in our case for two-stroke low-speed diesel engines. Besides a full size two-stroke engine, the training centre features a variety of RT-flex (common-rail), remote control and other ancillary systems and components for visualised learning.
WLSA also continually supports Wärtsilä personnel to develop their skills and abilities. Internal training is of growing importance as the time from the normal apprenticeship education to the full on-the-job performance gets shorter and shorter. Therefore, the internal courses improve effectiveness of the Wärtsilä organisation and the quality of its services.
