Global Customer Agreements

Services - Low-speed engines

Global Customer Agreements (GCA) are long-term service agreements which cover up to all the equipment in a ship’s engine room. Under these agreements Wärtsilä manages the technical performance and all maintenance of the equipment and the supply of all required spare parts. The maintenance is usually carried out globally, within the given port times and, if required, also during coastal voyages.

These agreements cover the first 10 to 20 operating years of a vessel, and the contract periods are typically split into five-year periods which correspond with the ship’s dry-docking intervals. The costs for the total maintenance and all spare parts and services are offered to the customer at a fixed, all-inclusive price for the whole length of the agreement.

The main customer benefits of a GCA are:
- Guaranteed availability for equipment, parts and workforce
- Extended guarantee during contract lifetime
- Fixed costs and cost predictability
- Dedicated contract manager and management team
- Reduced manpower
- Reduced insurance costs
- Potential savings in other ship operation costs, e.g. lubricating oil costs.
