The current low-speed engine portfolio comprises the Wärtsilä RTA and RT-flex engine types which cover a power range from 5100 kW to 80,080 kW. The RT-flex engines feature fully-integrated electronic control of common-rail systems for fuel injection, exhaust valve actuation and engine starting. The RTA engines retain the traditional camshaft-controlled systems.
These engines are marketed world-wide for application in the propulsion of all types of deep-sea ships, including tankers, bulk carriers, car carriers, general cargo ships and container ships right up to and including the world’s largest cargo ships. The company continues the long tradition of the Sulzer diesel business.
Tailor-made solutions for ship propulsion and electrical power are also developed and marketed. These include fixed-pitch and controllable pitch propellers, thrusters, diesel generating sets, shaft power take-offs, high-efficiency waste heat recovery plants, shafting, bearings and seals.
