DuraFlake

Wärtsilä in Canada has a proprietary epoxy coating with a trade name of DuraFlake. Our coating is a glass flake epoxy base that is machinable and repairable. Due to the interlace of the glass flake any vapors or solutions are blocked from transferring to the base metal.

Severe corrosion or erosion can be repaired even if the wear creates a hole through the casting. Impellers that have eroded can also be repaired to original specifications. With a 12% elongation factor DuraFlake can even be applied to exposed aluminum for protection.

We have applied our DuraFlake to car ferry decks to save the steel from corrosion due to the salt mixed in with the snow in the winter. Some applications are ship rubbers and hulls, bow thrusters, bilge pumps, sewage storage tanks, ballast pumps, heat exchanger plates, ID of pipes, strainers, valves, fire pumps, water pumps, etc. The list goes on for DuraFlake's multiple uses.

Please contact us to review or discuss any applications that you may be considering. All coatings come with a 2 year conditional warranty.
