Libas, fishing vessel

Monitoring the marine resources and the environment is vital for Norway, with such huge resources spread throughout an extensive economic zone. Libas has specially been designed to provide a state-of-the-art platform for Scientists for gathering marine biological and physical field data. Scientists are able to control the equipment from their offices and hence collect data while vessel is in commercial operation.

The vessel has been designed to meet low levels of noise and high-speed sailing, and is thus an efficient survey vessel.

Wärtsilä solution:
The propulsion consists of one flexible mounted Wärtsilä 12V32 medium speed main engine. The main engine is driving a SCV95/2-PD58 gearbox with 1500 kW PTO/PTI, booster, generator. The skewed propeller is working is HR nozzle ensuring high thrust while trawling and high speed ship during transit. The flexible propulsion arrangement with various operation modes provides optimal total efficiency in various operation modes.
