Thetis

B. Iskes & Son Towage and Salvage is a family business working with towing and transport operations in north-western Europe and harbour towage in the Amsterdam/IJmuiden and Rotterdam harbours. Delivered in 2003, Thetis is the most powerful tug in the Iskes Towage and Salvage fleet.

Wärtsilä solution
The propulsion consists of two flexibly mounted Wärtsilä 9L20 engines and two LIPS steerable thrusters, each with an HR nozzle and a five-bladed fixed pitch propeller of 2400 mm diameter. The selection of Wärtsilä 20 main engines for the tug was based on the perfect track record of this engine and moderate spare parts pricing. Wärtsilä’s know-how and performance with flexibly mounted engines was also of importance. The LIPS steerable thrusters were selected for the high reliability and strong construction.
