Seabulk Badamyar

In 2002 Labroy Shipbuilding and Engineering in Singapore ordered a complete propulsion package from Wärtsilä to be built into a 50 metre AHTS (anchor handling hug supply) vessel. Named Seabulk Badamyar, the vessel is chartered to Seabulk Offshore, a company serving a global market and offering a large and diversified fleet of offshore support and specialized vessels. Seabulk Offshore operates a fleet of over 130 vessels in the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, South America, West Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Wärtsilä solution
The vessel is equipped with two Wärtsilä 8L20 engines developing 1440 kW at 1000 rpm and two LIPS Compact Thrusters with controllable pitch propellers. The propellers have a diameter of 2100 mm and run in HR (high efficiency) nozzles.

Asked about the performance of the thrusters Mr Andre Cadiou, VP Technical of Seabulk Offshore, commented that “the manoeuvrability of the vessels is beyond expectations”. Besides this, the HR nozzles have a very positive effect on the bollard pull capacities of the vessel (10% higher than the charter requirements).
