The Mulder-designed 140-ft tri-deck yacht ‘The World is not Enough’, built by Millennium Super Yachts Netherlands, is the world's fastest fully equipped luxury yacht. At trials the yacht achieved a top speed of 69 knots. The designer Mulder Design has a long history in the design of high-speed hulls and is one of the foremost designers in this field. The yacht was delivered in August 2004 to its North American owner.
Wärtsilä solution
‘The World is not Enough’ has a three-shaftline solution. Two Wärtsilä LJ77E steering and reversible wing jets are each linked to a 4000 kW high-speed diesel engine. The centre Wärtsilä LJ84E booster jet is linked to a 6700 kW gas turbine. The waterjets are weight-optimized to achieve the best power/weight ratio. Wärtsilä and Mulder Design developed a special inlet using advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) calculations to create optimum inlet duct characteristics over the entire power and speed range of the yacht up to the top speed of 70 knots.
