Spliethoff's Bevrachtingskantoor B.V., a Dutch naval transport company, manages a fleet of over 50 multi-purpose tweendeck vessels ranging in size from 9500 to 24,000 tonnes. The company’s main activity is worldwide transportation of forest products and the movement of large projects, especially for the oil, gas and telecom industries.

Wärtsilä solution
The Schippersgracht is powered by a 6-cylinder Wärtsilä 64 engine giving an output of 12,060 kW at 333 rpm. The vessel (first out of a series of 10) was delivered in 2000 and is deployed primarily in the shipment of paper from the Baltic to North America for Finnish forestry group UPM-Kymmene. During 2004/2005, another 4 S-type sister vessels will be added to the Spliethoff fleet, also equipped with the 6L64 engine.
