Flexible baseload operation

Flexible baseload operation

Utilities and Independent power producers use our 1…300 MW power plants to generate power to the grids in the developing world, on islands and in remote areas. These plants are flexible to follow the actual load and produce the necessary electricity typically from natural gas, heavy fuel oil and from bio fuels.

There are more than 3700 engines installed in more than 1550 Wärtsilä baseload plants, producing 22300 MWe of dependable power around the clock in 135 countries around the world. On top of these, 156 engines in 22 Wärtsilä floating baseload plants produce almost 1300 MW of competitive power, 24 hours a day.

High efficiency, low emissions and proven long-term reliability make our oil power plants, gas power plants and biopower plants plants suitable for baseload applications.

Depending on your current load profile, ambient conditions and what fuel is available (gas, LFO, HFO, crude oil, liquid biofuel, biomass) we make sure you will get the most productive and cost-effective solution.
