Gas compression

Gas compression application by Wärtsilä

Reliable and economical supply of natural gas is becoming increasingly important as demand for gas grows and the society becomes increasingly dependent on gas as a clean and low cost fuel.

Gas transmission pipelines and underground gas storage facilities are the key links in the gas supply chain to secure the gas supply, provide the means to balance daily and seasonal fluctuations in supply and demand and enable a flexible and economical utilization of the upstream operations and the network of gas pipelines. For these reasons, many new gas pipelines and storage projects are under consideration or existing facilities are being extended. Gas storage also has a considerable economic impact by allowing more efficient use of the pipeline infrastructure already in place.

Our gas engine compressor drivers in the power range 4 to 9 MW have outstanding efficiency and wide load variation range, providing the operators with flexibility and low life cycle costs.
