Dredging vessels create and operate in a muddy and sandy environment which normally causes severe wear to the rubber sealing rings in the sterntube seals. The Sandguard 3AS-D prevents both lubricating oil leakage outboard and seawater ingress inboard by supplying an outflow of air and freshwater, and consequently minimizes the wear to the rubber sealing rings.
