Juan Camilo Rodriquez translates technical documents from English to Spanish, his native language, and to Portuguese and Italian. ”The best thing about my work is that I get the chance to learn also complicated technical issues – it’s almost like a bonus. The fact that I’m learning them here, in a company that is so significant in its sector, makes it even better,” says Juan Camilo Rodriquez.
Juan Camilo is starting his second year of mechanical engineering studies, but he has already studied economics and business administration in Colombia and has a master’s degree in economics and business administration from University of Vaasa. Juan Camilo was familiar with Wärtsilä even before he moved to Finland, because his father has worked in power plant projects in Colombia and other places in South America.
In spite of Juan Camilo’s good preconceived ideas about Wärtsilä, he was surprised with the friendly and relaxed atmosphere. ”I definitely want to work in this sector after I graduate. Continuing on with Wärtsilä would be ideal.”
Juan Camilo’s most memorable experience at Wärtsilä so far has been his first visit to the Vaasa Delivery Center’s production facility. ”It was downright mind-boggling to see the huge engines in real life.”
