Auli Hiltunen, M.Sc. (Econ.), worked in Germany and in Sweden during her studies to get use for her language skills. She is now working as a Strategic Purchaser at Wärtsilä Services in Vaasa, Finland. On a daily basis Auli Hiltunen is in contact with customers and colleagues of different nationalities around the world. She is aware of the possibility of working abroad. “If I want to work abroad, it is possible. In case I ever feel the need for changing working duties I stand a good chance without changing employer. A big company offers many opportunities.”
The employer educates
The education of employees is encouraged by Wärtsilä. A great amount of education is arranged for the personnel. “It is of the employer’s interest that we succeed in our work”, Auli says. She is completing her engineer studies simultaneously with her work. A Master of Science in Economics needs knowledge about valves and bearings in order to do a good job as a Strategic Purchaser in purchasing these.
